Itinerary
Day 1- Transfer from central Paris to Escommes to join the Fleur de Lys barge.
- Meet David Napp, your tutor for the week, during a convivial champagne reception on board.
Day 2- Spend your first day cruising on the magnificent Canal de Bourgogne.
- Walk or cycle alongside the boat on the towpath that follows the canal.
- After lunch visit Château de Pommard, where you will have your first lesson in the art of pastels.
- Return to the Fleur de Lys for dinner.
Day 3
- Find a beautiful spot on the magnificent Burgundy Canal and paint a French country scene.
- Return to the barge for lunch and afterwards visit Beaune, capital of the Burgundy wine producing region, for a visit to the famous Hôtel-Dieu, Hospices de Beaune.
- That evening the Fleur de Lys will moor at a canal-side village, La Bussière-sur-Ouche.
Day 4- Tour l'Abbaye de la Bussière built in the 12th century under the guidance of the Cistercian monks from Cîteaux.
- After a stroll through the grounds and a tour of the property with the owner, enjoy lunch in the restaurant.
- Spend the rest of the day working with pastels. David will be on hand to direct you and, by the end of this session, you will have a fabulous picture to admire over cocktails on the deck.
Day 5- Cruise through the Côte d'Or and after lunch your guide will take to Clos de Vougeot, a medieval chateau surrounded by vineyards.
- David will once again be on hand to help you create the perfect masterpiece.
- Fleur de Lys will moor in the picturesque village of Fleurey-sur-Ouche.
Day 6- Spend the morning working with David and find another wonderful aspect of this waterway to capture.
- Lunch is served on board, and you are then transferred to Dijon for a walking tour of this famous city.
- Return to the barge for the farewell gala dinner.
Day 7- Disembark and return to Paris.
